Course Profile:

This course is designed to provide participants with effective communication skills in the workplace. Poor communication can result in mistakes being made, misunderstanding, or the breakdown of a professional relationship. The session will examine the effectiveness of skills including empathy, assertiveness and listening when communicating. It also identifies the barriers that prevent effective communication and how to prevent these.
The course is interactive, including activities and group discussions.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this course participants will be able to:

• Describe the impact of perception when communicating
• Select the most appropriate communication medium
• Apply effective listening skills
• Use questioning techniques effectively
• Appreciate the importance of empathy in the communication process
• Understand the importance of behaviours and assertiveness
• Appreciate different communication styles
• Apply transactional analysis to the work environment

Participant Profile:

This course is designed for those wishing to enhance their communication skills to enable reaching desired outcomes. The target audience will also be aiming to build effective working relationships with both internal and external clients.
