Course Profile:

This course will include all you need to know to start lighting effectively in Unreal. The first half of the day will focus on the fundamentals – learning how to manipulate and shape your lighting to achieve a desired look or mood. The second half will be more advanced using a large scene with raytracing enabled to create a realistic/ cinematic environment.

Trainer Profile:  Philip Meredith

Immersive Technologies Skillnet Trainer Philip MeredithPhilip is a Games Art Tutor at Escape Studios with over 10 years’ experience working in video games and computer graphics.
He worked with some of the most successful games studios in the UK including EA, Jagex, Rebellion and Climax, and has released thirteen video games including, Harry Potter: Deathly Hallows, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, Runescape, Overlord and released his own game for iOS called Dead on Sight.

 

Participant Profile:

Beginner To Intermediate: It is advised that participants have some 3D experience but not necessary. A basic knowledge of Unreal Engine is also advisable to get the most from the class but not a pre-requisite.

This course is taught in English and you will need access to a computer to join the online classes.

You will need to have downloaded and installed Parsec on your computer and Zoom either on the same computer or on another device before the lesson begins.

You will need a microphone and speakers/headphones in order to participate in the Zoom virtual classroom, and a stable Internet connection to support both the Zoom meeting and the Parsec remote workstation connection.

We recommend using a separate mouse and European/UK Keyboard Layout.  A second monitor would be helpful but not necessary.
