Micro-credentials are a new and exciting academic offering. They are short, accredited learning experiences that facilitate flexible and innovative professional development and lifelong learning.

Why should I take this micro-credential?

This micro-credential will give learners a broad but deep introduction to Unity3D, the current standard software for VR and AR prototyping and development. You will take a deep dive into VR and AR development, enabling you to apply your new knowledge in a creative manner.

The credit value of this micro-credential is 5 ECTS. The European Credit Transfer System is a commonly used credit system, recognised by Trinity College Dublin and by awarding bodies across the EU and in some other countries.

Assessment
Your learning in this micro-credential will be assessed using authentic assessment that is directly related to your industry.

You will attend weekly 2-hour lectures and develop your own applications. Using the software Unity3D, lectures will introduce the development of interactive environments with a focus on design for Virtual Reality or Augmented Reality applications.

Two of the lectures will be dedicated to showcasing and reviewing the body of work created by you and your peers.

You will create 2 applications that can be used for portfolio and write a report on their design and development.

What Are The Prerequisites?

To apply for this course, experience with the fundamentals of audio and visual production is highly desirable, but not necessary.
You will also need an up to date CV.

If you are a Republic of Ireland resident and a company employee or a sole trader or freelancer, then you may qualify for the Immersive Technologies Skillnet talent development subsidy.

If you secure a place on the course via the Trinity application process, then you will be contacted by Immersive Technologies Skillnet to register with us and pay before 31st December 2022 to secure a place.
